If maintaining your forward momentum is becoming increasing difficult, you should consider a different approach. Plan out rewards for meeting certain performance goals. Another way of looking at it is positive reinforcement. An example could be treating yourself to a healthy, but new, kind of reward if you complete your entire workout routine as planned. Your reward could be stopping by a healthy sports drink bar for something tasty. You could also choose to reward reaching your goal by indulging in a nice hot bubble bath that evening. Be creative with the rewards for meeting performance goals and stick to them.
Seeing positive results is the most exciting part of working out, no matter what form your exercise takes. It is thrilling to see the pounds melt away or to see new muscles.
Not to mention, seeing the results of all your hard work is highly motivating. This really gives you a sense of accomplishment, which helps you feel great. Keeping your goals in front of you and knowing that you will soon see results can help if you're just beginning your program.
Women commonly experience the effects of over training. Over training can slow you down if you are highly motivated and nothing seems to stop you. Similar to burn out, over training can be very frustrating, especially if you don't realize that's what happening right away. You will suffer more frequently from a feeling of "the thrill is gone."
The good news is that this condition is easily fixed, and really just involves a little "time out" from all the hard fitness exercising work. Slow down and relax, and the best thing to do is listen to your body. You will know when it is time to get back into it. Life is challenging for us, and fitness motivation for women can often put extraordinary demands on our ability to stay positive. The best thing you can do is to stay focused on one fitness goal at a time. You can't really judge another person's way of motivating themselves, as it will vary from one person to the next. You have to use what works for you, which may not be the same thing that works for another woman. There's nothing abnormal about this. Even if you have to get creative and try a few different strategies before discovering what works for you, then that is fine.
